Scruggs practically invented the class action lawsuit in the 1980's. He was the lead plaintiffs' lawyer in the asbestos litigation of the 1980's, the tobacco litigation of the 1990's, and the mold and Katrina litigation of recent years. His fees in the tobacco litigation alone were over $1billion!
